The Golf of Gela is situated on the Southern coast of Sicily, between Punta Braccetto beach and Licata, and is the biggest of the region.
The coast is characterized by low and sandy littorals, with dunes covered by Mediterranean grass. Along the coast there are some calcareous faces rich of biodiversity. Rivers of Salso, Comunelli, Gela and Dirillo end in the golf. Up on the North side there is the big Plain of Gela, surrounded by hills on which there are cities of Niscemi, Mazzarino and Butera.
